The
First Annual BRP 1/18th Scale Oval Outlaw Halloween Classic
Held on October 4th at D&D Hobbies in
Lexington, Ohio, the 1/18th Oval Outlaw event was run after the dirt off-road qualifying
on Saturday afternoon.

Entrants competed on a tight and demanding road course, setup on the hobby shops concrete
parking lot. Each racer participated in two, eight minute qualifiers. All cars easily went
eight minutes in qualifying. The racers seemed to be evenly matched with horsepower as
well. Top Qualifying mark was set by Steve Radecky with 27 laps.
The main event was started with an inverted grid
so the fastest cars had to work their way up and pass the slower cars.
In the main event, Steve Radecky took the win
with Steve Ackerman second and Bud Bartos third. Steve Ackerman who finished second, was
allowed to run but did not compete for a trophy because he was running a highly modified
car.
Trophies were awarded to John Young in first, Todd Kramer
second, and Ryan Lutz third. Steve Radecky and Bud Bartos did not compete for trophies
because Steve is a BRP employee and Bud is BRP owner and race sponsor.
The most important aspect of this race was that
all entrants had fun. These cars do not require a lot of work to be competitive. All cars
were box stock and the racers competed on driving skill. Everyone had a great time and all
said that they looked forward to more "simply fun" events to come.
